They say things fall into place or your meet the right people when you least expect it.
Funny enough, I had been going to the same gym for months, but had never met Omar, who is a trainer at Gymit. Of course, Omar appeared at a pivotal time in my life and not only help improve my physical fitness, but my mental fitness.
When there was darkness he offered light. Being hands down one of the most positive people I know, Omar is always preaching the power of choice and mental game. The more we trained together, the less it became just about gaining confidence in the gym. On a larger scale, training with Omar and coming to the gym daily was about discipline and gaining self esteem in my pure ability. Ability to push myself and overcome my own mental capacity and self-doubt. This really translated to everything in my life.
Do not underestimate the power of your mind. It can bring you down, but with the right mindset, also allow you to overcome challenges. Always when I said I couldn’t lift, push, or pull “that” weight, I could and I did. His instagram handle is @bodiesbyomar, but it really should be @powerbyomar. I was really there for the mental #gainz.
… And don’t be fooled by these stern looks, for he is a genuine heart with a welcoming smile.
On a serious note, Omar is now the head of boxing at Everybody Fights, Gymit and I definitely recommend going to his classes. They will kick your ass, but you can take them at your own pace. Plus, he always has some good beats to pump you up. Definitely one of the best ways to start the new year — or just punch away some stress, haha!
